For the final professional project of my Master of Urban Planning degree, I worked with a team of 13 graduate students under the guidance of Malinda Jenson’s staff at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation to provide recommendations for bolstering the Mt. Elliott employment district by leveraging real estate assets, improving the business environment, and developing workforce talent in the district in line with recommendations from the Detroit Future City framework.
- This project received the 2015 Planning Excellence Award for Student Projects by the American Planning Association Michigan Chapter.
- This project was also awarded $600,000 by the U.S. Dept of Commerce EDA for implementation.
- I worked with a team of 3 to conduct stakeholder interviews
- I lead a design team of 3 to compile all text, images, and maps to create the final report in InDesign (link below).
